Since lockdown in the UK, we spend over £250m every year on seed for our beloved garden birds. That’s an awful lot of flaked maize, peanut granules, nyger seed and sunflower kernals. Plus mealworn, suet blocks… – in fact, you name it, we the Great British public serve up over 150,000 tonnes of it every year. So it should come as no surprise that you can get your supply right here at Pecks Farm Shop when you’re picking up your fresh fruit and veg or dropping in for a ploughman’s lunch in our new coffee shop.

Our 4 Top tips for attracting birds to your garden
1. Hang bird feeders at different levels filled with different seed choices to see what works for your garden. Expect to see finches, sparrows, tits and robins quite quickly
2. Sprinkle seed around on the lawn or patio for ground feeding birds such as blackbirds, dunocks and chaffinches
3. Place your feeders and bird table close to shrubs, a fence, or a tree so the birds have a ‘secure’ route in and out
4. Put out a fresh supply of water every day – it doesn’t haver to be a bird bath – you can use use a large dish, or maybe a dustbin lid. One of our customers even uses an old frisbee!
